Monday Meals!

I know I haven’t been on here in a about 2 weeks, it’s been so hectic on my end. I’m glad to say that I am back and ready to pick up where I left off.

MONDAY MEALS

I know, it sounds cheesy, (‘M’onday ‘M’eals lol) but, I felt that this would be a great addition to my Earthly Ingredients blog. I want to be able to share healthy options for those of us wanting to make more conscientious decisions for the body.body-temple-282x300

The meal I chose to feature this week is actually a salad dressing. I know this is not an actual meal but, I chose this because I personally love salad dressing but, it is one of the most unhealthiest foods you can consume. Just one Tablespoon of Hidden Valley Ranch Original has 70 calories and 65 of that is from fat(HiddenValley.com). Once you put 2Tbs on your salad, you have defeated the whole purpose of eating a salad in the first place. Going on, we’ll discuss the health benefits of this dressing, Healthy Avocado Cilantro Lime Dressing, and how to make it!

The main ingredients of this fabulous Dressing are Cilantro, Lime, and Avocado. All three of these natural ingredients have amazing health benefits.

Cilantro: Amazing natural Detox for the body; this plant helps to remove metals such as mercury, aluminum, and lead from the body. Cilantro also helps cardiovascular health by removing bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases good cholesterol (HDL). Lime: Wonderful for digestion, the acidic levels of lime help your digestive track to break down the food to be more easily processed through the body. Let’s be honest, a healthy regular poop is something we all struggle with these days, lime is perfect to help regulate your trips to the bathroom. Avocado: Saved the best for last, the most underappreciated fruit (yup, it’s a fruit) there is. To start with, Avocado’s are packed full of healthy monounsaturated fats, which is a “good” fat that helps lower bad cholesterol. Every serving of Avocado offers almost 20 vitamins and minerals; including potassium, which helps with muscle cramping and lowering blood pressure, folate, which helps with cell repair, and lots of vitamin B, which is crucial in fighting infections and preventing illness. I highly suggest that one does research on the foods you eat everyday. There are so many different forms of the same produce due to GMOs (genetically modified organisms). GMOs are linked to cancer forming cells, multiple health risks, as well as rapid onset of puberty, and birth-defects. Also, always wash and prep your food appropriately before consuming it, you do not want to ingest harmful pesticides, the chemicals are directly correlated with health risks.

Healthy Avocado Cilantro Lime Dressing

 

Creamy-avocado-dressing

Let’s go ahead and bust out the food processor, or blender, which ever you prefer. Prep and clean our food of those pesticides and cut our avocado, lime, and cilantro.Once you have everything ready, put the food items in the blender.

1 whole avocado

1/4 cup of chopped cilantro

(optional) 1 clove of garlic, peeled

1 tbs of lime juice

3 tbs olive oil

Kosher Salt and Ground Black Pepper to taste

You’ll also use 1/4 cups of plain Greek yogurt or sour cream.

If you want it to be runnier, just add water till it’s the consistency you like.

You can keep this dressing in an air tight container for about 1 to 2 weeks.

It’s that simple, just blend until smooth and creamy. You can keep it in a mason jar(I love that trend) or whatever you see fit.
